Association History
You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every association of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today and continuing the Kappa tradition beyond college.
The Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Association consists of alumnae members of Kappa Kappa Gamma ranging from newly graduated seniors to 75-year members. Our members reside across the Piedmont Triad to Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. We support the Delta Beta chapter at Duke University in Durham and the Epsilon Gamma chapter at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Meetings, events and volunteer activities are usually held once a month from September through May.
History
The Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma was originally founded as the Durham Alumnae Club on May 18, 1931. It has been an active group throughout the years and has changed its name a few times. On October 24, 1940 it was renamed to the Durham-Raleigh Alumnae Club. On February 7, 1950 it was renamed to the Durham-Chapel Hill Alumnae Club. On July 17, 1957 it was renamed to the Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Club. It was then changed to the Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Association in May, 1972. Our alumnae association will be celebrating its 90th year on Founders Day October 13, 2021.

Nan Alyea Schiebel Loyalty Award
Over ten years ago, the Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Association created the Nan Alyea Schiebel Loyalty Award to honor Nan's enduring loyalty and longstanding commitment to the fraternity, to Delta Beta chapter, and to the Piedmont Carolina Alumnae Association. The award is typically given during our Founders Day celebration to a senior member of Delta Beta chapter who exemplifies loyalty to Kappa. An engraved plaque hangs in the Kappa Common Room of Delta Beta with each winner's name engraved.
